Touching Lives
Education
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world and the most effective way to break out of the cycle of poverty. Yet, after 70 years of Independence, over two crore children (NSS-2014) still remain out-of-school in India. These children are not only deprived of their right to receive an education but they lose their childhood to earn bread for a living.
Awareness and Counseling Through workshops and various activities, awareness is generated amongst parents and local communities about the importance of education. VCA also conducts regular counseling sessions to encourage parents to send their children especially girls to school and help them participate in various activities.
Management Committees VCA forms school management committees comprising of teachers, students and parents to help them take accountability in children and school’s development.
Skill-Development Workshops Learning activities, sports and school committees help children in personality development and leadership. VCA conducts multiple activities in schools that help them learn their rights, build skills and develop confidence.

Women Livelihood
If organizing the unorganized is the top priority of the labor movement, why is there so little organizing going on right here in our community?
That was the question posed to attendees at a seminar last spring and the answers were many and complex. But the solution to the problem seemed obvious. The goal of the seminar was organizing to unorganized private sector workers in our area. The objective of the seminar is to aggressively seek out workers who might face the problems where they work and to provide them with basic information and help to get started. Perhaps the most important problem is that the large unions that normally organize in these sectors are not geared up to actively organize in our area. As a result, when someone from one of these non-union shops expresses an interest in organizing, the message is forwarded to the nearest organizer for that sector, which is usually in another city or state. And, even if the appropriate national is interested in pursuing a contact, they simply do not have the resources to send someone to our area to do the long-term work of setting up an organizing drive and carrying it through to the end. And, without resources to pursue contacts, there is no point in even educating and generating contacts among the unorganized.
Environment - Drip Irrigation
Micro Irrigation Methods are the pressurized Irrigation Systems consisting of Drip & Sprinkler Irrigation. In Micro Irrigation water from water source is lifted by a pumping unit & conveyed directly to field by closed conduit piping network without any convey ance losses.
With water becoming a scarce resource, Drip Irrigation is the answer to modern agricultural needs. Drip Irrigation Systems are uniquely engineered to deliver a measured quantity of water directly at the root zone of each plant at regular intervals. This is to ensure that the plants do not experience stress for water & nutrients.
Require Components of Drip System are Well/ Tank, Pump, By Pass/ Pressure Relieve Valve, Non Return Valve, Hydro Cyclone Filter, Inlet Valve, Back Flush Valve No 1 & 2, Sand Filter, Head Unit Control Valve, Fertilizer Tank/ Injector, Pressure Gauge, Disc Filter, Air Release Valve, Supply Main, Ball Valves, Pressure Regulators, Sub Main, Sub Main Flush Valve, Laterals/ Emitting Pipes, Drippers, End Plug.

Biodiversity Documentation of biodiversity of rural areas is a challenging task. Answers to these issues are not easy. There are complex concerns and require carefully considered. The results could be used for providing capacity development programs for the local Biodiversity Management Committee and development of Peoples Biodiversity Register. Further these could be prioritized for notifying Community Reserves, Conservation Reserves or Biodiversity Heritage Site. It is necessary to have capacity building programs at four different levels, i.e. at State, District, Taluka and at village level. At State level a specialized training module is required for the subject experts in the state and also for the industries which are using bio resources on commercial basis.
Majority of the biodiversity within the State is distributed in forest areas. However, it is also present in other than forest areas. The total forest cover in the State is about 20% of the total geographical land, Sustainable utilization of bio resources is a major function of government and hence has a direct role whereas agricultural area is almost 57% and about 23% area includes waste lands, grazing / pasture land, tree crops and groves, fallows etc. This shows that the majority of geographical area is outside the forest areas.
At present the total framework of the through various NGO, volunteers, public, corporates CSR is attached to the Forest Department which needs to involve other departments on a large scale to achieve the targets and to establish BMC mechanism under Panchayat Raj System.
We established Biodiversity Management Committees in 27 Gram Panchayats in Nagpur districts. We are established Biodiversity Management Committees in the following Gram Panchayats.

Livelihood
Bamboo Workshop And Training Program
The proposed area was once well known for the bamboo mat weaving activity. Bamboo mat weaving was the sole source of livelihood for majority of the population belonging to the underprivileged section in the area. The whole family was used to be engaged in this occupation of mat weaving and they never felt need f or migrating to other places or engaging in other labour activities. Such were the golden days of this occupation that nobody in the family ever felt need of seeking any other work outside the village. But, now it has declined so much that only rare families are found to be engaged in this activity and that too restricted to the older people. It has become impossible for the family to meet all their needs by solely depending on mat weaving work. Now, all the younger people are forced to work as a labourer in agriculture and allied sectors in the village e. Many times they have to migrate to faraway places because of the unavailability of employment opportunity in the vicinity.

Health
MEDICAL HEALTH CARE CAMP
A medical health care camp had been set up in Nari road on March by the VCS In the camp, proper medical treatment of the people of Nari road and nearby area was done and remedial measures were provided, all free of cost, including the basic medicines required for an early recovery. VCA was given the task of taking down the details of the people who came for this health check-up. And guide the people for the same. The people encouraged to do simple activities on a regular basis to get rid of the excessive body pain.
A Blood Pressure (BP) check was performed on every patient. After that, they were sent to their respective doctors where they were appropriately given the right directions regarding their health. The three doctors carefully listened to the problems the patients were facing and provided an appropriate solution to curb it. Majority of the people were suffering from chronic back pain, swelling, watery eyes and high/low B.P. This is a prime example of how the community can be served appropriately if we are interested. We need not be high-profiled citizens to help the society change. It is the willingness and enthusiasm which comes out from within that encourages you to work for the betterment of others.
Highlights
- Initiative taken up by VCS

- 102 patients in total
- People suffering from backache, watery eyes, body pain, fever, cough and cold, with body pain and swelled joints being the more prevalent ones.
